Getting Fit, Eating Right, Losing Weight, Living Better

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a fitness instructor part time. I teach boot camp and group strength. I love it. Not only do I get to make a change in other people's lives, I have made a change in my own. I have always loved working out and I have been running for several years. I have always struggled with my weight and it will always be a fight for me, so ladies, don't give up! With HARD work on a regular basis it can be done. Don't always look at the scale, look how your clothes fit. Measure yourself and once a month recheck your measurements. You need a buddy, someone to work out with and someone to complain to. I'm here for you. I don't know everything, but I will do what I can. I teach classes 4 days a week and I work out with a group of girls in Republic on the weekends for fun. It is easier when you know there are people waiting for you at the gym or at the park. Let me know what your thoughts are.

I just want to add that if it weren't for Gina, I would have never found the courage to continue pushing myself. I am just at the beginning stages of this "new" phase... but Gina basically re-trained the way I view working out. I can run now (3 miles at least)....and before, I couldn't even do one lap. It's only taken a couple of months for me to improve this much and I NEVER thought I could do it! And, I'm still one of the last ones in every class I do, but it doesn't matter to me. I'm doing it. Gina definitely pushes us, but she is very supportive and encouraging. Thanks Gina! I will definitely be in more of your classes! You need to let people know your schedule! And we need to get the other girls on here to vouch for our class!

I love working out too, and agree thats its better to have friends to encourage you along the way! I also struggle with weight and always will (most of family is overweight). I do weigh myself every day though and find that it helps me because if it starts creeping up I know I need to try harder for the next few days.

How long have you been teaching? I recently got certified to teach group classes, but I dont feel like I am really prepared to "actually" teach a class... any advice you can offer would be awesome!!

Julia, I have been teaching for over a year now. You will feel like that for a while, but it will go away. Which classes are you wanting to teach? I just picked the ones that I know were my strengths and went from there. I am still not real confident with step, but I keep working on it at home so that if I need to teach that class, I am ready. The best advice I can give you is just keep practicing don't show fear! The people I have worked with have been great. If someone has a question I can't answer, I let them know I will look into it. I also try to go to other people's classes to see what they are doing. You get great ideas that way.
I have a new boot camp starting at doling family center July 8th at 6am. I also teach on Wed. nights (group strength) at 6:15. I also teach boot camp in Republic for Cox every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Group strength on Monday night at Cox in Republic from 7:00pm to 8:00. Stop by any class you would like just to see what goes on. Let me know when you start your own class. I would love to come.
